Feeling Crafty?

We probably all have a checklist of things to do this weekend, but first on my checklist is to hang out with the fabulous Shimelle for her Weekend of Christmas Crafting. I'm hoping to get a start on creating my Journal Your Christmas album and even link up to some of her challenges. Make It Monday

Although I had the entire week off for spring break, I somehow managed to neglect my "Make This!" folder on my computer. I must say, I did deep clean the whole house, run lots of errands, unpack numerous boxes in the basement and throw a little girls get-together, so the week was very productive overall.

Do you remember the chalkboard door from last week's post?

Well, I didn't get to the pantry door as I had hoped, but I did manage to spruce up a little corner in our bedroom. This frame is actually the access panel for the back of our jacuzzi tub. Big, bold and ugly in the middle of our wall. So I fixed it. I used chalkboard paint within the built in frame and made it a cute little landing place for youngsters that come to visit. Doesn't the chair look cute next to it? (The chair is one of my most loved possessions from my childhood.)

It's amazing how just a few coats of paint can spruce up a space isn't it?

Vintage Finds

For the last couple of years I have been collecting vintage decorations for the holidays. Last year I was able to pick up a few vintage (looking) bottle trees and ornaments to add to my Christmas/Winter collection, but I'm always on the lookout for little treasures to add to my stash of pretties.

While visiting some of my favorite blogs, I stumbled upon this online magazine created by Amy Powers. It's absolutely fabulous! I spent way too much time pouring over the beautiful photographs, the holiday tutorials, and eye candy ads!

She has even included a link to all the printables and patterns!

The Day I Eat the Whole Bag

Actually, that's a reference to my Aunt's AMAZING clam dip and the fact that every year when I make it for Friends' Thanksgiving, I'm the only one who eats it, ingesting one (if not two) bags of potato chips in the process. (It's the only thing I like potato chips with...weird huh?)

So this year, for my own well being, I have chosen not to make the clam dip for our Friends' Thanksgiving....which is starting in about an hour....

but I'm not promising I won't take it to family thanksgiving...;)

Anyway, the cranberry salad is made, the Italian beef is ready (I'll explain that one later...) and I'm about ready to bounce right out that door.

What are you working on this week?

The last week has been SO amazing!

I headed home over the weekend to celebrate these two wonderful people: my grandparents! We celebrated Grandma's 85th birthday, Popi's 90th birthday and their 65th wedding anniversary! Can you believe that, s-i-x-t-y -- f-i-v-e y-e-a-r-s!!!!!!

So anyway, I have TONS of wonderful photos from this event that I'm editing, along with those taken of Bug in his *cute* Superman costume on Halloween.

If that wasn't enough, to keep me busy, it's also report card week. :)

Don't think report cards will keep me from being crafty though. I'm making Veteran's Day gifts with my students at school, and trying to catch up on my journal pages from Janel's class.

WIP Thursday

Over the last few weeks I have been working on MANY different projects, most of which are still works in progress, but there are a few that I'm ready to share!

First of all, I finally hand stitched those felt leaves (from last year) together to make a 12 foot banner that looks absolutely adorable hanging in my entryway.

I also finished up Amy Tan's Get Those Creative Juices Flowing Workshop. I filled a little journal (the journal was made by Amy) with important little pieces of my everyday. The fun part was that Amy had us try out some new techniques that I'm pretty proud to say I mastered!

I also completed the 12th and final album to go in Bug's first year box.

This one celebrates his first birthday!

Now, off I go to finish more projects!
